I am changing this section to the rant section. Please rant away about any topic that you would like...PLEASE STICK TO THE SUBJECTS THAT ARE POSTED OR IF YOU WANT A NEW TOPIC TO DISCUSS THAT I DID NOT THINK OF THEN EMAIL WITH IT AND I WILL CONSIDER ADDING IT.
THANK YOU!
Raise taxes, cut services. Just goes to show you that Bonfarti and his goons on the city council don't have any answers. Give you less for your money. Make you pay more. No vision. No solutions. Same old shyte. I hope I see something NEW from these dudes running for mayor. All I have seen so far from Ted and Fitz are frigging sounds bites. Looks like this election is going to be like all the rest of the elections in my lifetime. Whoever is most popular will win. Screw solving problems, just get out there with a sign and wave like an idiot at the idiotic Peabody voters. You will win even if you don't have a brain cell in your head.
ReplyDeleteReally?? Lets be honest, if a family of four needs more than three barrels for trash without recycling, there's a whole lotta money being wasted. Three barrels is plenty. Two is just dandy when recycling, which we should all be doing anyway. The trash game is a serious issue for many reasons. Come on, why should our city be left to the past when the future is just about here.
ReplyDeleteRaise taxes, cut services, welcome to the new reality. hey how much did you pay for the last pound can of coffee you bought. prices go up amounts go down. Nothing new.
How can u Peabody haters blame the city government for everything then say you are going to vote for Ted who has been on the council for the last ten years?
ReplyDeleteGet to bed Sean, you got a long ride to Podunk in the mornin'
ReplyDeleteBecause if you've learned anything about city government, its that ALL of the power in the city lies with the Mayor. The CC is virtually powerless on day to day operations.
ReplyDeleteYou have a problem with the last 10 yrs, there is only 1 place to look, at Bonfanti.
As for the previous commenter regarding amount of trash. Let's see....I have 2 kids in diapers, plus I bag my lawn clippings. I can get over 3 barrels pretty easily and that's with recycling.
This whole trash decision is so anti-family. Of course this is per the norm of this administration. They don't want the families here because in their mind it costs them too much money. They are doing everything they can to keep the families out! I have older empty nesters and they still have two barrels with recycle. Now what if you have a family of 2 or 3? There are some families that have more....What this is showing is that government cannot run their business properly. They require more and more from their citizens because they have not been strategic. i'd rather have them cut my taxes so that they can just void out all these horrible services and I will take care of them myself. I am sure that I could do much better with my own money than these people on Main Street.
ReplyDeleteDon't trash it, just recycle it.
ReplyDeleteSo R U saying that the answer to all of our problems is to just raise taxes and cut services? This is not just about trash. It is about a disturbing trend in Peabody. The current mayor has no plan for turning things around so he takes the easy way out and puts more of the burden on taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or is Sean starting to sound like a kooky, crank candidate?
ReplyDeleteJust sound like? That has been is MO for a long time. BTW Sean is probally running bc his contract is in its last year and he knows he is not getting another on up there...
ReplyDeleteI think he feels like he can bully people to the point of submission and you just give up and agree.
All I know is that thousands of people have actually voted for Ted in several straight elections now. Who, other than some Democratic insiders in a primary for state rep have EVER voted for Sean? The dude is way over-rated, in my opinion. He got hack job from his pal Bonfanti and because of having that hack job on his resume he got the town manager job in some podunk NH community. What has he accomplished in the real world?
ReplyDeleteYa gotta be a little leery of a guy who has never held a real job in the private sector. He lists on his website that he has 15 years of experience working for Peter Torigian and Bonfanti. Those weren't REAL jobs. He was a taxpayer supported personal valet.
ReplyDeleteHe was kind of like the guy Michael J. Fox played in the sitcom where he worked for the Mayors office. I actually think it was a direct recreation of our city hall and all the antics...
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, Plaistow has what 6000 people and he doesn't even draft the budget. They have a special budget committee and the Selectmen also participate in the process. As far as I know the Town Manager does not have any involvement. If you question this then go look at their website and review the annual document. Sean clearly says that they worked on the budget, page 40. He makes no mention that he assisted in the review. This is for a town with less than 7000 people and he wants to run a town of 50,000+ and draft a budget? Are you kidding me?
http://www.plaistow.com/Pages/PlaistowNH_WebDocs/Plaistow-Annual%20Report%202010_72d%202.pdf
Here is the Plaistow data: The way under peabody with regards to economy. Look at the household income.
http://www.city-data.com/city/Plaistow-New-Hampshire.html
BTW this is his last year on his contract and so I think he knows he is done after this year up there and that is why they have no issues with him running. They are going to let him go and probably figure let him go somewhere else so they don't have to deal with him...
are we ready to rumble? are you ready to welcome back the one and the only...the legendary Outfront Guy* ?
ReplyDeletelet's have a quick reality check my new friends...say hello to our next Mayor > Ted Bettencourt...bet the house, the wife, the dog and the mother in law on this one....beats the hell out of me where the beef is with this guy but the Dark City will put him in the corner office! next question ?
ReplyDeleteWho the heck is the Out Front Guy? Are you serious? You don't seem to be out front if you are anonymous. So why do you want to rumble...Tell us all...
ReplyDeletewho is the Outfront Guy*?? are you serious? OG is a Peabody blog legend....a Dark City original....the only one who keeps ticking and ticking like a Timex watch....
ReplyDeleteIt is true. Ted will win. It is true that it will be because he's a really nice guy who EVERYONE likes. It will have nothing to do with his abilities because other than being a REALLY nice guy with an excellent jumpshot, there is not much else there. Just saying, and by the way I will vote for Ted too. The other guy is an obnoxious prick. Sean is the type of guy who must have been stuffed in a lot of lockers at Peabody High.
ReplyDeletemark my words, ted will be bonfanti II.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe Ted will be Bonfanti II. First of all they are worlds apart. Ted is going into this with much different eyes. He is much younger then napoleon. When I have spoken to Ted he listens and when I have spoken to Napoleon he just glosses over me, just like Sean has when I have spoken to him. If anyone is going to be another Napoleon it is Sean. He is arrogant and he thinks he is the only one that is right. Maybe that is why he running since his contract is up in the other state he travels to. Maybe they don't want to listen to him anymore and he is coming back home pretending he is a person that will listen and use others ideas. I don't think so and I think he will try to run the city his way and run it into the ground
ReplyDeleteElection is like 11 weeks away and I dont see hardly anyone out campaigning. Only see signs for Alyward. Anyone going to work and try to beat these incumbents? Are Donovan and Croce going to even put out signs?
ReplyDeleteCroce has signs up I have seen a few. They are tiny...His signs are going to get lost with any normal size sign. My thought is that I am only putting votes in for new candidates even if I do not use all my votes. I really want to send a message to them
ReplyDeleteI saw them to. They look like they are the same size as Gould signs. Seem pretty standard to me. It is amazing to me how stupid this blog is sometimes. Maybe candidates should put up the size of the Jumbotron at Fenway.
ReplyDeleteKnuckleheads its not about signs and anyone who ONLY puts up a million signs and does nothing else is a sure loser. Signs just give you a little visibility. There are more important things u need to do.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have any thoughts about the newly positioned yield signs at the enterance of the industrial park in south peabody? I think the new right of way is very counterintuitive...and have personally observed the confusion (and hesitation) that this has caused. Why was this changed?
ReplyDeleteThey have really slowed things down in this part of the city...it started with the light at county/lynn streets. Then they put up the most useless light in the city, on washington street at eastman gelatin. Now, they change the traffic flow at the industrial park.
I have been here long enough to know that it just takes one "well-known/connected" person(see:mayor's friends) to complain for dumb stuff like this to happen.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Is the limit really 6 bags if you can cram 2 bags in a barrel? Would they take these barrels?
ReplyDeleteYou need to buy the bigger bags and put the little ones in them. A friend of mine made a great point. What if you want to buy new pillows and throw out your old ones. It could take 4 weeks just to get rid of them bc they take up so much room...This whole thing infuriates me!
ReplyDeleteThe politcal season is alive in Peabody!!!!! This blog is dull, a few years ago a blogger by the name of "Pat Patriot" ignited the Peabody Blogosphere and started a revolution.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened?
Is Peabody no longer a community that engauges in political discourse?
Disappointing.
So it has started. Aylward signs are getting stolen. This is so absurd and immature. You figured after what happened in Ward 6 a couple years back people would smarten up. Hey ole Fred, you really didnt say much so maybe if you do then people will respond to ya...
ReplyDelete8/12 5:44 , Your ,I'd say, guesstimate of the Plaistow population is way off . My friend in that town says there are close to 8,000 people in the town and not the 6 or 7000 you said there was. He says he hopes Fitzgerald stays on as the towns manager because of the great job he is doing there. The selectmen have given him high marks for the job he has done and they have made it known they do not want to see him leave. You do have a way of slanting things and that isn't fair to the public giving that you all but lie about the town and Mr. Fitzgerald. I know politics are a dirty game and you appear as though your part of the dirty politics even if it means trying to sully any one persons name.
ReplyDeleteI get a laugh out of those who oppose the new trash removal rules. If the trash barrels had the trash in them without the recylibles in them then they'd be room enough to have all the trash out of the home weekly. News paper, cardboard, glass bottles ,cans and plastic are renewable and should be put in the trash stream separate from the barrels . That makes the room for the barrels needed to be collected and keeps the city cleaner and healthier to live in. The days of burning every thing in a 55 gallon metal drum in the back yard are gone. When the burnt trash had to be removed you can only guess where it usually ended up!! BTW, you always had the metals and glass left behind after burning.
ReplyDeleteWhy would anyone want to steal Alyward signs. who is alyward?
ReplyDeleteAugust 16, 2011 8:05 AM I guess a 1000 people is a huge factor when are are counting 8,000 vs 50,000.
ReplyDeleteYou hear that he is doing a great job. What has he done that makes him doing a great job? He carries out tasks his Bd of Selectman tell him to do? he does nothing inovative to help the town that are from his own thoughts. It sounds like we could get chimp to carry out the job. I provided a city link to show he acknowledges that everyone else decides the budget. HOW is he going to even begin to propose a budget for over 50,000 people when he doesn't do it for the roughly 8,000 people there. Oh thats right, he will hire Bonfanti as a consultant. The household income he is dealing with is almost half of what Peabody is. You are dealing with a huge difference of citizen up there with what their needs and wants are compared to Peabody. It is like saying you managed a CVS so that makes you qualified to run Coca Cola...They are two completely different animals.
The reality is that he has NEVER worked outside of the government sector. He has no idea how to run a business which what Peabody needs and what the United States needs as well. He is living in a bubble and he lacks the true experience to handle this scale of government. Also, his attitude to people is atrocious and he does not listen to open critism because he thinks that he is perfect which no one is.
I do not think that I can have another 10 years where the Mayor does not want to listen to the citizens or retaliates when they criticize him publicily. The idea that he is the boss of the city is inaccurate. The boss of the city is the citizens of Peabody and when you forget that then that is when you fail. Sean has already proven that is his personality and for that he will fail. I only expect him to get 30% of the vote come November.
I agree with most of what you say, but you have to agree Sean still has more experience than Ted when it comes to managing an entire city or town.
ReplyDeleteSo what are you saying? We're up shyte's creek no matter who we vote for? Can we write in Peter Torigian?
ReplyDeleteBoth candidates have their strengths and weaknesses. There is no perfect candidate. Torigian was a very good mayor but when he came into office 30 years ago, he was a young man with his own set of
ReplyDeletestrengths and weaknesses. The issue is which of the candidates do you trust. At the end of the day, who do you trust with your tax dollar, your children's education, etc. I have met and gotten to know both candidates. I will be voting for Bettencourt. He comes across as sincere and reliable. Fitzgerald is nice too but I always feel he is reading from an old script with nothing behind it.
McGeney for mayor!
ReplyDeleteMcgenney is a politician and not a leader. He changed his tone when the mayor announced he was not running and now he is up Bette courts ass! All he does is make excuses and he really needs to go from city politics.
ReplyDeleteI have met both candidates and Sean comes across as a cheap suit that is trying to sell me a scam. Bettencourt seems like a good guy that listened to me instead of telling me who he was. Right now I am leaning for bettencourt.
I have a question for both candidates, not that they'll answer....
ReplyDeleteIf elected, will you chair the school committee?
I ask because I think we the people of Peabody elect a school committee to take care of the schools, I think the mayor needs to let them do their elected duty and concentrate on the city as a whole!
Therefore, I will not vote for a candidate that has his hands in other committees and controls them.
The Mayor HAS to chair the school committee it is required under the bi-laws. He only breaks tie votes. He has opportunity to speak on issues but really is only their as a connection to the city government. I think that you are crazy for not wanting a Mayor there especially if they strongly support education. I think people need to realized that there are going to be big changes to the city over the next few years and the people that think it is going to be the same old song should hold on tight because there are big changes on the way. I am not sure how many people are aware of a new parent organization that is building up momentum and may provide parents a lot more strength in the elections this year. I think the sleeping giant is starting to wake up and the politicians are not only going to have to cater to the seniors in this city. Look at cities like Beverly starting a laptop program at their HS. They are one step closer at moving away from text books and will allow all students to have access to their classroom materials. Students at the higgins don't have books bc of poor decisions years ago. Elementary schools have text books that are 12 years old. The schools are falling apart, even the new ones. There have been so many poor decisions made over the past 10-12 years that I hope that if we get the right Mayor then he will be an active participant accountable for the decisions that are being made. Peabody has done some great stuff but parents need to be credited for the effort with their children and keeping them on the straight and narrow and making sure their kids are making an effort. Its time for the school board and city to stand up to the unions and get rid of these restrictive hours they work. It is a joke and I a m tired that oh we put in more time than that. What I have seen through the years is teachers that come and go when the are contractually obligated and there are only a few that do the extra stuff. They too have been greedy for too long and they too are starting to wake up the sleepy giant and they too will have to start answering to voters. Watching my children through the years in the system has aggravated me to no end and the reality is the current mayor has left a real sour opinion of what the Mayor should really be doing as the Chair of the School Committee. So I think you are foolish for making that statement and hope that you reconsider your thought when it comes time to vote.
ReplyDeleteSaid it once, I'll say it agian: Dave McGeney for Mayor!
ReplyDeleteDave stop posting for yourself...Its embarrassing! You had your chance and you lost and you are too much of a coward to try again.
ReplyDeleteI'll say this again as I said this before. There are some who do not know the difference of city or town government. The difference is and should be obvious to separate from one another. The big difference is that Massachusetts and New Hampshire have different rules and laws of how each state runs the two types of governing, city and townships. Maybe Peabody should go back to township status to stop all the bickering about budgets, school committee ,city council and etc., etc. To see the comments about the two candidates and the two municipalities by those who post here is doing no justice for either of them. These postings are made by persons who do not know their backsides from there elbows. These same people not only do not research what they say they also fail to tell the whole story but do slant what they say to favor their choice of candidate. What they fail to see is that when they get caught doing this they hurt their candidate of choice attempt at being mayor. I have seen many getting "caughts" here and yet they continue to try to show they know what they are talking about. The shame of it all is that the two candidates for mayor haven't told these screwballs to stop . There isn't any doubt in my mind that the person who writes in favor for Bettencourt is making it better for Fitzgerald to win the election. Yes!! I favor Fitzgerald having the experience of government as compared to Bettencourt. I still wonder why any lawyer in these times of the numerous court actions against them due to political misdeeds wants the job of mayor. How good a lawyer can he be if he has to go to the political troth to feed his family and get the benefits that go along with the job. I say he can do better joining a law firm of note or do what Barry Feinstien did to make a living.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that the Fitzgerald camp takes shot at Bettencourt saying he must be a horrible lawyer...Have you ever asked why if Fitzgerald took his dream job why he wants to leave it? That's how he described his current position in the Eagle Tribune.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your tactic to create fear that people get "caught" here is absurd. The citizens of Peabody do not answer to anyone except their families. The reality is our elected officials need to realize that they answer to us!
At least Bettencourt can demonstrate that he has worked in the private sector. Fitzgerald has no idea of the realworld.
BTW I am EXTREMELY informed of how governement works so as your candidate you believe that YOU know more than everyone else.
Sadly, this blogs seems nothing more than open mic night for supporters of. I've seen 4 or 5 responses to the trash situation all others are my guys better than yours. maybe if the blog holder didn't find it necessary to throw in his or hers last 5 sentences with supporting link there could have been an issue of importance discussed
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we talk about a write in campaign for Dave McGeney for Mayor?
ReplyDeleteMay be Fitzgerald was told by -or- saw the writing on the wall that Bonfanti wasn't going to run again. It could be that he wanted to have the opportunity to run for mayor knowing this -or- he had the opportunity to take the chance of staying employed by applying for the Plaistow town managers job. [ Of course thats just supposition on my part.] He has done his job well in both municipalities. He has the experiences of his working in both places along with his education in that regard. He has made the political contacts from having done so. My question is does Bettencourt have the same? I think not . After all the mayors job is not the legal system and I see that as a plus for Fitzgerald. Why do you object to the fact that presently lawyers in politics are on the hot seat politically and are in the courts defending themselves for their misdeeds? All I said is if he were such a good lawyer then why does he want to run for mayor when he could make better money doing what he was or is trained for. I stand by my remarks and question why you can't see what I have written as factual. Regarding your last paragraph I never said I was better informed than any one else. I did say that you and those of your ilk should look into the things you say before you write any thing so as to be factual ,truthful, and not slant what you write about. I'm sorry if I've offended you but when you do what you have done I can't resist telling you and the readers of your apparent lack of factual truth. Have a nice day and do relax long enough in todays sun to think about being truthful and factual in your future writings.
ReplyDeleteBTW, You said you were extremely informed of how government works then why wont you tell us what you claim to know as being extremely informed . Also ,you almost gave away who you are in the last paragraph.
ReplyDeleteWent to school for Poli Sci and did multiple internships at the statehouse. I read everyday and I get out and talk to people. So go ahead and figure out who I am...I am shaking bc I never gave a tell but now that I have because you think you are so intellengent by tricking me and giving information about my background.
ReplyDeleteLook, just because you value your success by money, it does not mean everybody does. Their are people that are out there and believe in something more than the paper the governement continues to print.
My statements are factual because Fitzgerald seems to love the media and attempts to use it to libel Bettencourt. You can easily google all this information. I wish TT Blog stayed up because there was some great feedback on there.
I am not sure if Fitzgerald thinks he is Bettencourts daddy because all I have read over the past month is how dissappointed he is with Bettencourts decesions. I find it extremely laughable.
BTW, I do not even live in Peabody anymore so not only am I amoung 50,000 people it is more the population of Massachusetts you have to consider...So Mr./Mrs. super interviewer best of luck to you but obviously you are no Perry Mason...
This blog is a bore. This is just a forum for two loud-mouths to argue with each other. Posts by others (the yield sign question, the trash barrel question) are just simply ignored.
ReplyDeletePlease bring back the Twisted Tanner or Peabody Patriot. Hell, I would even ask PI to get the Roundtable going again...
http://www.mawaterresourcescoalition.org/PDFs/EagleTribune_PlaistowNH_EPA_8-14-09.pdf
ReplyDeleteWhat is everyones thought on this piece?
1:52, Unless you have property in the city you should have brains enough to keep quite and let the candidates do their thing. It is people like yourself who make all the negative comments and further con fuse the voters who have to make a choice. You are hurting Bettencourt and giving Fitzgerald the mayors seat by your stupid interference from out of the city. Do you really think that I'd believe you took courses in poli sci. If any thing you took courses in sci fi because the one thing you'd be doing helping Bettencourt from your out of city home. If your his friend I would hope he has more brains than you rather than to allow you to sabotage his chance at being mayor. No wonder Fitzgerald has the edge on him with nitwits like you blogging here.
ReplyDeleteThe last person who wrote is right about the ranter to be quite. The ranter certainly isn't helping his candidate, Bettencourt. I'm surprised that this ranter didn't comment further about his working at the state house. I'd venture to say he did take Sci Fi and not Poli Si and he didn't say a thing about his knowledge of city and town governments as he was asked to do. I guess he is just a dufus who likes to be heard no matter what it takes.
ReplyDeleteI have a rant for you. This blog sucks!
ReplyDeleteDave McGeney for Mayor 2011!
I have been watching the blogs since 2007. They come and they go. The best thing is that it has been virtually uninterupted besides the changing of names.
ReplyDeleteI thought the original one (Peabody Patriot) had the right idea, a place where people can blow off steam. I thought he/she was a bit harsh, but looked forward to every new article. Then there was Old Freddies Place (or something like that), just as good maybe even better. Old Freddie used to show photos that he/she took and made it more believable.
Then there were a couple of others in between, then the Twisted Tanner. I liked the Tanner, stupid at times, but liked the writing style of the owner.
This new blog has none of the above. Is the can get one of the previous owners to take over here? Or even better open back up a blog that will cause some static and turn some heads this election? Oh, and BTW the whole word verification thing is a pain in the ass.
ASC....
ReplyDeleteI know Bonfanti has made a lot of stupid comments but Dave MCgeney is the overall winner of the "Stupidist Comment of the Year Award"
Mcgeney is like a cartoon character from the far side. He talks tough to the mayor over the school budget then he folds like a cheap suit and votes to cut the budget! He praises the new superintendent to cover his own ass when Levine found money to cover the shortfall in the school budget. Thanks Dave for balancing our school budget on students from outside the district. How did that work out for you!? It gets better...How about balancing our school budget with bus fees! Then he votes to raise the fee until its unaffordable and students stop riding! But the real show stopper, knee slapper humdinger and the stupidist quote of the year.........."Mr. superintendent, you did such a good job on the budget, can you come to my house and do my personal finances"!!!!!!!
Oh my Lord I feel like I'm in an episode of the twilight zone. Please Dave, why don't you leave the school committee, you've done enough damage. Do us all a favor and start a song and dance routine and shuffle off to Buffalo. But please, lets never, ever, ever, ever hear a Mcgeney for mayor. How are you going to balance the budget? I know, he's going to take away recess from the kids and the money saved from the teachers will save the day! As your favorite ex-superintendent used to say "Hats off to you Dave"
This blog needs looking into. I am trying to post a link and it won't let me!!
ReplyDeleteHere is some help..
ReplyDeleteClick Here
HA!!!
ReplyDeleteMore of the past! Does Carnevale work in Podunk?
I guess the apple doesn't fall far fromthe tree!!
ReplyDeleteELECT FITZGERALD...NOT!
Thanks for all the love and support you have provided me. This blog is a work in progress and it has been live for less than three weeks. I had only started this to get people to sound off what was going on in the city. The readers are what is going to make this blog work or fail. The goal of this is to have feedback from the citizens of Peabody. Clear and simple!
ReplyDelete8/17@10:40 We have no podunks in Massachusetts but we do have lawyers in courts defending themselves. Our leaders are wonderful aren't they!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAug.17 @5:18 I read the report as published and came away with the following. 1. Peabody was listed with a fine of 70,000 dollars . 2. There are at least 7 or 8 more Massachusetts municipalities listed with fines. 3. Peabody has a fine more than 30,000 dollars higher than Plaistow, N.H. That leads me to believe N.H. is a better place to live and is far better run than any Massachusetts community. Was that Peabody fine due to the Carnavale and his Spring Pond blunder?
ReplyDeleteMcGeney for mayor 2011! It's OUR ONLY HOPE! Run Dave run!
ReplyDeleteFirst Ted B had them run a picture of old ladies holding fans with his name on it. Now Fitzy is out there exploiting his kid: http://peabody.patch.com/
ReplyDeleteHappy talk news in LA LA Land.
Hey fellas, when are we going to here what you stand for and what your plan is for getting us off the shyte pile as 10 years of Mini Mike the Meek?
Then again, maybe the way to win an election in Peabody is by posting cute little photos in the happy talk online newspaper called the Patch.
All I gotta say is: WHERE'S THE F-ING BEEF?
You won't see Dave McGeney in the Patch patting lobsters!
ReplyDeleteMcGeney for Mayor! Write it in, folks. We need this man of vision!
McGeney has to suck up to Bettencourt so that he retains all of the copy machine contracts. He isn't stupid, I think.
ReplyDeleteYah think?
ReplyDeleteI THINK>>>
ReplyDeleteOnce Bettencourt gets elected, AND YOU KNOW HE WILL. HE should look into the previous mentioned contract. I also heard he is looking for a city job for either himself or his wife.
I love the way Anne Manning keeps puts all her goody two shoes comments on the Peabody Patch. She must sit in front of her computer with nothing to do and put in comments that are ridiculous. Example "Peabody should be a green community because I like the color green." or "I like the farmers market and a good time was had by all of the six people who attended" Blah, blah blah blah and more blah. Get a life Anne.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sorry Anne Manning Fartin.
Dave Mcgeney has vision?????????? Helen Keller has better vision than Mcgeney. Dave should be an opera singer. Alls he cares about is me me me me me me me me me.
ReplyDeleteBettencourt should rethink his decision about campaign leadership in ward 1.
ReplyDeleteThat is all I will say.
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteWhat in the world R U talking about. Why should Ted question his Ward 1 leadership? Why not have some balls and tell us U mean by all of this. Otherwise, shut the hell up. This is why these blogs are a joke. Any clown can get on here and rail about shit and not be accountable.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with Ann Manning commenting on Patch. Patch is one of these "feel good, happy talk things" so what's wrong with her trying to get her name out there a little more? Other candidates are doing it too. Bob Croce does it, and I think he does it well. These candidates are playing it smart. Maybe they should come on this stupid blog, bash people and sign their names. This blog is so negative. It's all about what's bad in today's political discourse. All people here do is complain without offering any solutions.
ReplyDeleteHow about learning about where the candidate stand on things first before making inane, destructive comments.
I see Dave McGeney getting bashed here, and I think, here's a guy who has served his community for more than a dozen years. You can disagree with him and his style, but why get personal? Just don't vote for him if you don't like him.
I see some clown crypitcally slamming Ted B about some decision in Ward 1. Not sure what that's all about, but the poster should seek immediate mental help.
Free speech. It's a wonderful thing. It's just too bad that the concept gets a bad name because of morons.
I had already thought about this and when I have some free time I am going to create two new posts for each Mayoral Candidate. These posts will only be for why their candidate should be the next mayor. Any negative attacks on the other candidate will be removed. I really want to hear what citizens think each of their candidates will do for Peabody.
ReplyDeletePeabody Politics
8/19 @ 8:36 , You said the blogs are a joke . Why do you bother being on the site if that is so disturbing to your thinking ? I'd have better things to put my time to if I were you. The least of these things would be to help to do any thing worth your contributing an opinion and time. Why not just move on if your upset with what you see here?
ReplyDeletePeabody Politics, Really !! How far do you think you will get with your well intended hopes of response w/o any negative opinion from the bloggers? You and I will see soon enough after you start it I suppose. My question is will you have the time to monitor all of which is written before publishing knowing there is 24 hours in a day? Are you going to review all that is sent to the site before allowing your censorship of publication? I would be in hopes you never have a sick spell or hospitalization that would cause any prolonged delays of publication. I say these things with tongue in cheek but hope you have the success you have expressed here.
ReplyDeleteWho's to say this is a one person shop anon 744? I am going to do my best on those other two blogs to make sure it is an opportunity to let everyone comment positively because we need to start acting like humans anonymous or not and discuss the real issues and concerns otherwise we will not make Peabody a better place.
ReplyDeletePI , I'm glad to assume your not just a one man shop but you still haven't said whether you are or not. Being up front and honest would clear that up for me and the other readers . I wish you well with the two separate blogs and I'm sure you will be exhausted by the time the election is finally over. That is if you don't find an excuse to shut down the individual candidates blogs. Any ways, good luck.
ReplyDeleteAug.19th @ 734, I'd venture to say that most if not all the readers here are more than happy to see you move on. Your rant is the very same thing you complained of and the language you used further shows what a jackass you really are. I personally thank you for moving on and hope you find another site to be happy with because of your mentality and method of expressing your self.
ReplyDeleteI really do hope people realize that I have zero affiliation with any of the other blogs that are or were. I am not going to shut down the candidates blogs only remove negative commentary. Yes I am a one person shop so I am going to do my best and I am excited that we have a very big election year and I hope that this site lasts for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteWe all know it is the same person, Peabody Politics or TT or Fred of whoever. Just stop. We're not stupid. I think it's great to have a place to vent but why do you keep changing your name? Are you trying to hide from something?
ReplyDeleteLOL I find it so funny that you do not believe me. Then let me ask you why the Twisted tanner guy sends me emails if I am one in the same...? I believe I have a very different approach to this blog compared to the others and maybe over time the difference will be more obvious...
ReplyDeleteMe thinks you protest too much PP. Or, should we call you TT or Fred or Pat?
ReplyDeleteTT, its clear to me your running this blog. The people who read this are not idiots. Why the charade?
ReplyDeleteI am not going to try to convince you but I really am someone new to the blog world. I person that is aggravated with the bs that has gone on in the city and now kind of a watch dog for future candidates and elected officials. I want this city to be great and I am making sure everyone knows what is going on in our city.
ReplyDeleteP.P. , Your intentions may well intended ,however!!!!!, do be prepared to take a lot of flack from some of the idiots that are and do blog here. Not everyone has the honorable intent on this site to make things as they should be and that is truthful ,non harassing ,from the heart and brain expressions of their thoughts. I'm tired of those who say negative things just to make whatever is written here more complicated and favoring the just to make trouble aspects. They seem to make non truths to favor a candidate and make it harder to decide who to vote for. I do agree with your being in favor of the city being great but how can that happen with the fools that write here in the negative? If their intentions are what you describe then what the hell are they trying to destroy that intent? Freedoms of speech and the right to say what they have of any given opinion is every ones right under law but that doesn't give them the right to lie ,bend truths, or say things that damage repatations. Where is the line drawn on these foolish people? The answer is taking them to court and if I were the person offended I'd just do that w/o hesitation . Enough is enough when it comes to their crazy antics. They think it is ok to do these things but it only takes some one person to file a suit to stop them and the many others from doing these wrongful postings. I look forward to seeing a court suit happening with the greatest of pleasure.
ReplyDeleteThat is so not my intent to have anyone in court and if there is any potential libel then it will be removed immediately by me or by request. It is that simple, just stick to the facts and thats it. BTW I am not PP, I am DK.
ReplyDeleteYour confusing me. The blog I answered was from Peabody politics-PP-and now you say your not him but are some body called DK. Which is it? Are you some one assisting PP or are you using his name to further confuse this sites readers?
ReplyDeleteTrying to hide from his true identity again. It's the same dude who has run all of these blogs. The only one who has IDed himself was Keith D. This other doofus is hiding behind his multiple personalities. Wonder what he has to lose by revealing himself?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he/she has their reasons for keeping their ID anonymous. They could be a city worker, disgruntled or not or maybe a politician who wants to see things run right for a change. Either way who gives a darn just so long as the blog is run right and monitored the right way because of the screwballs and out right nuts that blog here. We are all entitled to an opinion but how that opinion is made for the site to publish is up to the blog site owner. So far they've done a good job, would you agree?
ReplyDeleteWho the hell is DK? Is it Pea.Politics, Pea.Patriot,PI, OG ,Who!. Your going to lose readers if this stupidness keeps up . Why not just post as anonymous like most all of us do? On the other hand why don't you just fold up this tent and move away into the desert and stop the confusion of who you are.
ReplyDeleteWhere did my flipping Alyward lawn sign go! Gone again this morning!
ReplyDeleteWhat is Alyward running for . Is he a South Peabody Alyward . If so I would vote for him or her . The Alywards came up the hard way and worthy of a vote.
ReplyDeletePretty sad that people are stealing signs. This is coming from his personal pocket and not donations.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it matter who is running the blog? It's an open forum that allows us to discuss all things Peabody. Instead of giving the guy or gal a hard time about his identity, why don't we just say thanks for your time. And Peabody politics, dont let the idiots out there scare you one iota with the threat of libel. Libel on blogs is analogous to the lochness monster or Bigfoot. It's a good story around the campfire, but no one can prove of it's existence.
ReplyDeleteAs for libel goes, you are just plain wrong, Anon 7:30. There are plenty of cases out there where bloggers have lost libel suits.
ReplyDeleteI am an attorney, so I can tell you this is true.
But I can also tell you that nothing I see in this string is libelous.
Opinion is NOT libel. But false statements around a fact can be libelous, especially if it involves a private citizen.
For example, I can call someone a "dirtball" all I want and get away with it. But if I say Joe Blow is a "dirtball because I saw him stealing from the city treasury (and it's not true)," then the owner of this blog could be in big trouble.
Then again, if Joe Blow did steal and I say it, I'm good since "truth" is ALWAYS the best defense in a libel suit.
Also, the person must prove that your false statement defamed him. In other words, if I say that Joe Blow likes peanuts, and he says that's impossible because of his peanut allergy, it would be pretty hard for Joe to prove he was defamed by your false statement.
In most cases, the plaintiffs go after the blog owner, and not the commentator, so PP is at risk if he sees potentially libelous comments and doesn't take them down.
I did review all of the posts and comments on other strings here too, and it's my legal opionion that right now you are not even close to the libel line.
But fair warning PP: be careful. If someone crosses that line, and a suit is brought, a judge can order your service provider to identify you through your IP address. It is not that hard to do.
blogs come and go...is it Fred?..is it Pat Patriot?...who is it? but time has proven that the true Peabody Blog Original is none other than the Outfront Guy*...what does he have to say about all this crap?
Croce and I think his wife waving at cars on County and Lynnfield this afternoon. Looks like Bob is working hard. Haven't seen many other candidates out there. Where are the rest? Alyward get out there!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bostonmagazine.com/best-schools-in-boston/index.html
ReplyDeleteDiscuss....are we satisfied with 117?
VOTE OUT THESE GOOD FOR NOTHIN INCUMBENTS!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteVote for Croce and Donovan for CC and vote for this new guy Russell for SC. Either we make a change or its gonna be two more years of disaster. I do not know if the new guys will be any better, but I know one thing:
They could not be any worse!
That is for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleterussells signs are everywhere. I think the 3 incumbents should be getting a little worried. I had decided that I am only voting for the new people and leaving my other votes blank. I want them to realize just bc I can vote for three does not mean that I will. So I will only vote for Russell and leave my other two votes unassigned and I am going to do the same for city council. I hope it is a strong message when they get their results!
ReplyDeleteAre Russell signs everywhere? I see them here and there and they are usually in yards already occupied by other candidates. Let me ask you, Russell supporter, why is he running? What is his platform and message? What does he hope to accomplish by getting on the committee? I'll first wait and see what he has to say before I give him a vote. If he is no better than what is currently there, then I will vote blank/write in. A fourth wrong will not make a right.
ReplyDeleteOnce Russ backed out of the mayors race, he lost my vote. I was looking forward to hearing the three candidates debate. Now nothing. Bad move Russ
ReplyDeleteReally like what I see from the challengers so far. Russell has signs everywhere, and Croce is a very close second. I also got a flyer from Croce today and saw him campaigning in my neighborhood in South Peabody. Where is Russ Donovan. I want to vote for him too but I have not seen him anywhere yet. I would like to see more from Billy Alyward too. I like Bill but other than signs, I have not seen anything from him.
ReplyDeleteTime for a change! Keep working hard guys!
The only candidates that came to my door so far was Bettencourt last week and Forti (I'm in Ward 1) sometime in July I believe. I have not had Fitzgerald, Gould, Donovan or Croce at my door, yet or leave any literature behind. Though it doesn't really matter to me because all my votes will go to all newcomers and Bettencourt.
ReplyDeleteI live on Dexter. Got a Croce flyer yesterday. I am a neighbor of Sean's. Many of us here find him annoying.
ReplyDeleteDah!!!!!!! How can you be a neighbor of Sean when he doesn't live on Dexter Street? How can he be annoying to you if he isn't any where near you or your street? Keep taking your meds and all will finally come into focus for you. They are making great strides in treating altzheimers today.
ReplyDeleteI dont care where that chump lives now. He is from Dexter Street. My cousin who is my neighbor used to be the little bastard's babysitter. I stand by my statement. He is annoying.
ReplyDeleteAhh,but yes kids will be kids wont they? You as an [supposed] adult shouldn't throw stones as I'm sure you were a kid as well being baby sat . Time goes by and most kids grow up to be responsible well adjusted adults. You on the other hand can't be well adjusted to describe Sean as a little bastard from your cousins description second hand from him/her. You Teddy supporters will do and say any thing to make any Teddy opponent less than what they are.
ReplyDeleteSean is a douche.
ReplyDeleteDouche is a term used by the female gender for a cleaning process of a female part. Please do correct yourself and be sure to admit that Sean is a man of and in his gender. It should be obvious to you that he is a man married to a female and has a child. What do you have? Can you prove your gender w/o revealing your identity? I don't think you will!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a women on my way to becoming a man. My name is Chaz. Happy now?
ReplyDeleteYour such a big tease and the old Green Apple is gone . Try the Carbones on Summit Street deary. With the kidding aside your no woman but you do seem to have gender issues. Have you tried going for help with your mixed up gender issues? I ask only because you claim to be a woman and have had your admitted say that you are one on a public forum. If you are a woman then why not tell us who you are? That way we can judge you just like you did with your use of the word douche to a man rather than a woman?
ReplyDeleteWhat!!!!!!!!!!! No retort or are you once and for all shut up?
ReplyDelete
