Grass or Turf

Should the city spend a million dollars to upgrade the athletics field? They are attempting to raise have of the money through a grant and who knows where they will get the other half but if the city has to pay $500,000 to get it built then I believe it is worth the money. The city could start renting the field and re-coop some of the funds and maybe get some better advertising opportunities to offset the actual cost to the field. If you have ever been over to BF then you will realize how nice it would be....Lets here what you have to say as taxpayers of this city.

  1. Artificial Turf is the way to go. No further maintenance issues. It is a no brainer. I am sick of living in the 19th century here in Peabody.

On a different note, why not discuss the $195 salary of the new mega voke super. It is in today's paper...area mayors and town manager question salary. Where was our mayor for this meeting??

  2. Isn't the field issue the same issue with have with all of the school facilities? That after decades of decay and lack of adequate maintenance, it's time to spend some money to bring them up to par with other communities.

This is a "no brainer" in my mind, but I would opt for grass. There might be slightly more up-keep, but I think its cheaper to install and will pose less of a safety risk to the kids.

What's funny (or sad) is the subject matter might change, but the issue is still the same. "Enter subject here" needs to be replaced due to lack of maintenance over the past few decades years.

That subject could be roads, the Higgins, the downtown corridor, water tower for Rt1, flood mitigation, the Burke or any other elementary school, our parks, the bike path.....poor Teddy is certainly going to have his hands full getting this city going again after the devastation that Bonfanti caused.

  3. The bike path?!?! The bike path is a raging joke and should never have been built. Suprising someone hasn't been run over yet and good luck with that cancer walking under all those high power lines.
