Dave McGenney Must GO!!!!

I watched the School Committee Meeting which I typically do not do because they are such a happy family...Or least that is what they portray publicly while they all run for re-election. So big Dave got to pretend to be the Mayor tonight since he was not able to chair this evening. Dave attempted to shut the meeting down as soon as he could. As though he really needed to go to the bathroom. He attempted to overlook a item that Beverly wanted to discuss and that had to do with the salary of the Regional's Superintendent. We are writing a blank check folks and we are not going to have the control on this school district. Beverly is someone that knows her stuff and then you have Hochman a 2 yr member disagreeing with her. He doesn't have a clue. She should have smacked him around. Oh ya, Hochman voted for the school and Bev didn't...hmmm Anyways, while this was going on Dave just wanted out of there.

So let me get this straight Dave....You are not campaigning, not walking or holding signs and you want to get the hell out of the meeting as fast as you can??? So why would I want to vote for you?

As of right now there is only one candidate that has the experience and knowledge to be on the ticket and it is the new kid Russell. I hope everyone takes a hard look at him and gives him a vote. Peabody would be doing a real disservice if he doesn't make it on the school committee. Mcgenney is definitely not getting my vote. He is miserable and he thinks his reputation will get him re-elected. That is arrogance that I will not tolerate and I am calling him out!!!

  1. Did you see the comment in the Salem News.
Mcgeney said he wants to raise taxes in Peabody so they can spend more money on education! Is this guy for real. I hope everybody in the city read that quote and votes him out. What an arrogant, ignorant comment. So Dave tell us how you improved our school system?
    Top 10 Mcgeney Hits
    1. Raised bus fees to $600.00
    2. Raised athletic fees
    3. Balanced the school budget on out of district student money. How many did we get? None and now were in the hole looking for money.
4.Brought in an incompetent superintendent that destoyed our school sysytem.
    5. Voted to put us into a vocational high school that will bankrupt the existing school budget.
    6. Takes credit for an improved school system while our latest mcast scores are in the dumper.
    7. Had illegal meetings on the school committee and violated the open meeting law.
    8. Voted to give the last superintendent a raise after theboard gave him a lousy review.
    9. Went along with the mayor for the last ten years when the children of this city really needed him. No Dave, it's not about your silly singing show, it's about educating our children.
    10. Finally, he asks the voters to re-elect him for all the work he's done over the years!

All I can say Dave, in the words of your previous superintendent......Hats off to you!

  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Burnett argue for a raise and then retire a couple months later? Why would someone push for a raise knowing they were going to retire?

  3. Why did Burnett ask for a raise? Because RETIREMENT BENEFITS are based on the TOP 3 YEARS of pay... So he gets more retirement $$$ for the rest of his life for 3months of salary 'bump'

  4. Why didn't the board just say no?

  5. I think we need Dave to run for mayor. Run, Dave run and save us!

  6. I guess as Og says this is what we get in the dark city. Imagine the nerve to run for re-election based on all he's done for us. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU DAVE!!!! It's about the people who live here and want a better future. It's a shame that he will most likely get re-elected when a qualified candidate like Russell may not.
I guess the quote, "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink" applies to the voters in Peabody. Here you have a candidate with a masters in early childhood education and is fighting to get a seat. What's really sick is the current incumbents are running as "a team".
WHY...Because we all get along! What a campaign slogan. Please Peabody voters. Wake up and say your as mad as hell and your not going to take it anymore! The other option is to bend over and take it up the tail pipe like you have been for the last four years. The choice is yours.

  7. It is sad. Ben Russell is WAY more qualified to serve than any of those three incumbents. What is this "we get along" crapola? While we fo not want people fighting and not getting things done, we need them to have differing opinions and actually disagree on somethings. Isn't that what makes our system work?

I am going to bullet Russell. I like Ed C. He is a good dude, but he does not know enough to serve. Brandy seems like a nice lady but she doesn't have the qualifications like Ben either. As for McGeney, it is time for him to go, but I know he won't because people just vote for names they recognize. Too bad since McGeney is useless on there.

  8. Didnt McGEney recently say that our taxes were TOO LOW? Great platform Dave

  9. My point on Burnett is two-fold, (1) where are the ethics in asking for raise and then retiring and (2) shame on the SC for granting that raise. Your telling me they were not aware of his plans to retire?

Incumbents should be wary....I'm voting for Russell and maybe only Russell.

  10. OG says...you all amuse me...and that is why I keep coming back for me....first of all, let us address the Beverly Dunne concerns about voc school superintendent pay...why bring it up? we know that a voc school superintendent makes more than a public school super....that is reality....is this a Dark City issue only? NO! this is a market issue....so now Beverly comes to the meeting voicing her concerns about this impending reality because we have hard working people who are responsible for more kids who make appreciably less than their voc school counterparts....is it fair? NO! is it reality? YES....are we going to be able to change this MARKET/SALARY issue here in Dark City? NO! now concerning all the laments about Ben Russell's sterling qualifications let me say this? who do you think out there has a clue about them??? why do you all naively assume that this is a well informed electorate?? and where were all of you when our SC meetings used to be bloodbaths with the likes of Borin and Perullo hooking horns? what do you want Dark City? you don't even know what you want do you?

  11. OG says...
we have some local pols who have to look in the mirror and ask themselves if it is time to go...McGeney was once the champion of change and opposition on our School Committed.....no one irked the Emperor more than he did (well, maybe Doc Perullo!)...and then if you recall McGeney ran for Mayor himself and it was thought at the time that he might have a real good shot of winning but in the end Dark City conservatism prevailed and the Education Mayor prevailed....and now we have someone who does not conduct himself as the agent for change but rather the civil do gooder of consensus...this could be a sign of political seasoning or malaise and OG happens to think that some of our longer sitting pols need to really decide when the end is here and when it is time to let the new blood in....so guys like Liacos, Sleepy Driscoll, Gamache, and McGeney need to think it over...does the fire still burn in the belly? or is more of the same old same old? I don't know how they do it because OG just has no patience for the whole damn thing!

  12. OG says...you all remember the tune from the old TV show Cheers right? "where everybody knows your name...."...OG is just thinking that there is some strong similarity with candidates Teflon Ted and Tom Gould...everyone knows them...everyone likes them....and no one can tell you a real compelling reason why they are voting for them but they sure as hell will....now this kind of simplistic approach to 'voting' is what keeps getting us into this Dark City mess..does it mean that 'nice guys' will win all the time here?? is is all about name recognition alone? should Sean Fitz and Croce not even bother to run against guys like this? are Gould and Bettencourt elected as soon as they declared their candidacy here in Dark City? do they really even have to work for anything or is it all written in the stars tonight? will there really be any drama on election day?? you know what my answer is but how do you feel ?

  13. OG going forward make sure you post under the right topic. This is about Dave and not the Mayors or city council race.
