This Site is Coming to an End

I am tired of all the people that come on here over and over again and say the site is lame. Then why do you return. I am tired that I am pushing an agenda. Am I? Sort of? It is called discussing the issues. The last time that I check we live in America. I have not defamed anyone on here and if I have felt that rude comments were over the top I deleted them. This blog has been based on what is going on in the news. Clear and simple. My most recent blog had to do with Mr. Fitzgerald and his continuous attempt at trying to hold himself out as some authority of the city of Peabody. It annoys me as a taxpayer, clear and simple. If there is an elected official doing it then they are doing it for their constituents. Clear and simple. I think some of the individuals that are on this site are just attempting to create conspiracy theories and prevent good honest feedback.

I guess I am a horrible person for attempting to push discussion and god forbid if I do have an opinion. With that being said, I think by the end of today I will be shutting this site down and maybe all those looneys can go back into their parents basement and play x-box...

  1. Don't let this stuff get to you Peabody Politics...you knew what you were getting into and know that a blog administrator needs to have some thick skin. It was a very noble gesture for TT to hand over the reigns...and you know that it wouldn't be right to just quit.

I have personally disagreed with you on several occassions, but so what? Isn't that part of what makes this country great? I, and many others, appreciate having this forum to discuss the issues. It may not always seem that way, but you shouldn't be doing this for the praise anyways.

I say stick to your guns and keep the site.

  2. TT is PP and the person who wrote thta last comment it TT or PP or Fred or ...
    Can you say Sybill?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I wrote the comment that you are referring to and I am definitley not TT of PP.

Also, anyone who followed the TT blog knows that this blog is NOTHING like that one. I actually strongly preferred the Tanner...and wish it would return. TT had a sarcastic writing style and seemed to have some inside information. This blog is more like an online newspaper. But, I can respect PP's effort.

If he weren't here then there would be no Peabody blogs left...unless you want to start one? I know I don't.

  4. YOU ARE the same person. Everyone knows it. Just shut it down. It's stupid

  5. I've seen countless attempts to create a sustainable Peabody-related blog. And each time, the debate is muddled and undone by the same problem - "anonymous" posters throwing verbal rocks from the darkness. I don't understand why you and the previous blog creators never banned anonymous posting. Require users to post under a registered name - whether they're real name or a pseudonym. At the very least, it will rid this site of the half-breed trolls who can't figure out how to create a google account.

  6. OG says...it's all about Sean isn't it? Frankly, I don't understand what all the fuss is about with respect to him speaking out on city issues....the guy used to work in the current Mayor's inner circle...he does have a clue how Dark City politics works....so not sure why you are down on him speaking out....as far as OG is concerned I want to hear MORE from the prospective candidates...how they feel or think should not be a mystery !!! any voter worth their salt should feel the same as I do on this issue....so head into the sunset with your tail between your legs if you wish....easy to throw stones when you have no thick skin yourself...and all of this talk of PP and TT means nothing to me...I don't care who any of you are....it does not matter to me at al....OG will live on in the blogosphere as always...so many of have come and gone and morphed themselves into the latest shady blog moderator and in the end it is what it is...and that is how OG sees it.

  7. Common Sense,

    That is an awful idea.

Have you been to the Salem News website since they started a "real name" policy? It essentially killed all of the lively discussions and 3 boring people comment on all of the stories. How about that bore known as the peabodypatch?

Anonymous posting is necessary to have blunt and open discussion. People don't want to use registered names out of fear of retaliation. Do you really think someone will talk poorly of the mayor or the police department if they have to use their real name? Do you think city employees would dare comment on these blogs if their anonimity was taken away?

I, for one, believe that the more perspectives we can hear from the better.

    BLOGS ARE ENTERTAINMENT. Lighten up.

  8. Reataliation? Where the hell do you think you live? China? You make it sound like Bonfanti is a modern day Stalin. Face it. Anonymous attacks are cowardly. This blog features a number of cowards who only like to take shots. Most of the people who take shots here are not city workers. How is comparing Anne Manning to Chaz Bono "entertainment?" PP and TT and Fred are the same person.

  9. I wish the world was as innocent as you believe it to be. Wake up.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but your naivety is showing.

  13. https://www.facebook.com/notes/damian-anketell/candidate-sean-fitzgerald-and-nearly-100-supporters-were-out-in-force-today/10150395348609553

This is the kind of attitude Fitzgeralds campaign has. This idiot AKA Damian Ankeltell who lost as Sheriffs election obviously knows everything...right? He himself did not have the experience and was out there in anger trying to take it away from Cousins. Now he is trying to question Bettencourts experience? What a tool!!! Of course Jenny who is all over this site trying to get them to turn it off it right there patting this guy on the back. BTW Manning looks like she has a ton of experience. She couldn't even run the meeting properly. She had council do it and everyone who knows how city council works that is NOT the person who runs the meeting. Please make sure Sean and Ann are gone....PLEASE. DO NOT SHUT THIS BLOG DOWN!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Damian is like the Fitzy campaign's attack dog. But you know what? I find it very entertaining. And you know what else? I don't disagree about Ted's little speech the other night.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Damian is a nut, but he is not wrong about this. I am still undecided but Sean does have more experience than Ted. It is plain as the nose on you face.

  16. PP don't let the idiots get to you. Yes, I'm referring to the last poster at 6:32. If you don't like this site, then go away.

  17. Sorry to change the subject but does anyone know if Dave McGeney is running for re-election? Have not seen anything about him.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I was told that he mentioned that he is running but he is not doing any signs or bumper stickers. Hoping his 18 years of service is enough to get him re-elected...gag! I find it somewhat disrespectful that he is taking the route of Russell Donovan...I hope Ben Russell wins his seat with that type of lame campaign move...

    ReplyDelete
  19. No. I think I heard that Dave decided not to run this time.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Big difference between Dave and Russ. Russ just likes to run so don't get on him for not campaigning. I think Dave isn't campaigning because he is so arrogant that he feels he does not have to. I agree: go Ben Russell!

  21. Vote for Jim Liacos. He is the only one of the city council who cares.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'd rather write in Mickey Mouse.

  23. Thank you for that comment Mrs. Liacos.

  25. I thought this site was coming down? It continues to be ridiculous. Promises ... promises and idle threats

    ReplyDelete
  26. Seriously, there are alot of people who obviously do not work for a living who come here to post. What a waste of electricity. Thankfully only a handful of losers read it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I do not believe this site will EVER come down because it is put here and supported by a rabid Bettencourt supporter. Wonder if Ted knows how much it hurts him to have this lunatic running this blog in his name. I bet Ted would want it shut down too.

  28. I AM WRITING IN DAVE MC GENEY FOR MAYOR. HE IS OUR ONLY HOPE.

  30. My feet stink. You think it has anything to do with how humid it is out right now? More stimulating commentary to think about.

  31. Thank you Tom. Can I have free mocha chip baby cone.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I did not know that you liked cheese, Russ. What kind? Swiss or provolone?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I just bought a car from Mike G. Really nice ES 350. Do I have to vote for him now, or do I wait first for my 5,000 mile check up?

  34. Can't take it anymore. If only I had a rocket launcher, I'd make somebody pay!

  35. Seems the site is being hijacked by those very afraid of political discussion.

Ignore this strategy to shut the site down, -it's election time!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Eenie meenie, miney moe, catch a candidate by the toe ... I will vote for Dave Gravel. He's Peabody's most handsome midget. (Well, after Mayor Mike that is).

    ReplyDelete
  37. What do you mean highjacked? I really like cheese!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Mrs. Gravel has weighed in. Whoopdie doo!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am one of the 11,000 "hits" this month, and I'm telling you again ... I LIKE CHEESE!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah. Don't shut it down. This is the most stimulating poliical discussion since he Lincoln-Douglas debates!

  41. I am becoming a Fitzy fan. Not kidding. I think he's the devil because I really am enthralled for some reason eventhough I think he's a turd.

  42. Has anyone seen my baseball

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is the kind of government you can expect from Fitzgerald. I see the idiotic comments as a way to shut this blog and free speech. He's just like Bonfanti. They hate something they can't control. Whenever there is dissenting opinions with these guys they get mean, nasty and vengeful. The moronic comments are a symptom of Fitzgerald and his campaign manager. Long live free speech.

  44. I am going to bullet Garabedian. He might not be that smart, but he gave me a good deal on a new Lexus.

  45. MCAS Results Show Peabody Students Lagging Behind State Averages, according to story in the Patch.

Have we had a enough yet? Time for all of these school committee incumbents to go! Bullet Russell so we can get someone qualified on that board. What a waste of taxpayer money on this lame school system. Sorry Dave M you got to go.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You know, the negativity in this town sucks. Seriously, why are we using this blog to beat people up? If we are so fed up, there are opportunities this fall to try and elect new people. But even the incumbents should not be slammed. Until U have put your balls on the line by putting your name on a ballot, you should just chill with the nasty comments.

I do not agree with a lot of people, but I respect their service. I don't know who I will vote for in some cases, but I have deep respect for the challengers for taking a chance. Rob Forti, Ben Russell, Bob Croce, Russ Donovan, Tom Gould, Tom Serino, Dennis Feld, Bill Alyward, Brian Birmingham, Sean Fitzgerald (hope I didn't leave anyone out) should be respected and commended for putting their asses on the line.

So ... give these people some respect. If you don't like any of them, vote for someone else. But let's please try to use this forum for something constructive. Free speech is a wonderful thing, but it's also grotesque when it's abused.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sean should have turned down that endorsement from Bonfanti. Why would you want to attach yourself to the mayor who helped create the mess we are in right now? If I were Ted, I would play up the fact that Sean's little buddy here has hit us with 10 straight years of tax increases, and worsening schools and public services.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I did not know that Sean was with the mayor. I was considering voting for him but definitely not now. I thought he was a smart guy. This mayor is horrible on so many levels.

    ReplyDelete
  49. OG says...will Teflon Ted agree to a no new taxes pledge?? I seriously doubt it....whether you like Mayor Mike or not you have to admit that the guy has faced some very challenging economic times where his fate is determined by state aid....so it is easy to suggest that the next guy in the corner office will turn it all around...it is not that simple...as for the call for change if you are fed up that all sounds good...and those who pledge that they will bring wholesale change to a Committee or a Council I have to say hold on pal..it ain't that simple...no single candidate can bring change...it must be a collective effort..now the other problem is that every time we have a local election we hear this call on this blog and others that have preceded it with this call for change...this goes back to the Torigian era when it was none other than Dave McGeney who was positioned as the new face of change...but unfortunately we don't see the words and the call for change backed up in the voting booth...this is reality here in Dark City and yes YOU can change that by voting for change but will you? and more importantly will enough Peabody voters do that????

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anon 4:28 and OG,

Very well said by the both of you.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hold on there OG, Bonfanti has been mayor for the last 10 years, while the tough economic times have really only existed since 2009 (crisis started in 08, but didn't affect local municipalities until 09). Even then, there was additional funds flowing in via ARRA over the last 2 years to assist with the gap in state funding.

If you look back prior to 2009, the country was in an unprecedented boom. It was time when most cities and towns were investing in their infrastructure. Cranes were everywhere......

Even here in the Dark City we saw some good expansion to the Mall and Lahey (both privately funded expansions). But what about the other parts of the city that fell into total disrepair....like downtown and Rt 1? Were those just forgotten? What about our city infrastructure? For instance, why wasn't more down to upgrade our school facilities at that time? Our middle school is a disgrace and the work done at the HS was like putting lipstick on a pig. Not to mention across the board maintenance issues on our roads and buildings.

The truth of the matter is Bonfanti hasn't led the city forward. He managed a bond rating and uses that as his prime key performance metric. Bonfanti has called himself a steward of the city, but there is a big difference between being a leader and being a caretaker.

So while I understand your skepticism over real change taking place, I am hopeful that one of these candidates will become a real leader for the city. And with a leader comes community support. Because people will rally behind leaders, they just won't do that when a "steward" is in charge.

    ReplyDelete
  52. OG says...was Emperor Torigian a steward of our bond rating? did our school system, downtown flooding and development flourish under his watch? are our schools better off overall today than they were then? has our flooding issue improved compared to then? I would agree that the downtown issue has not improved...The only thing that I see the majority of Dark City voters rally behind each election are low taxes...so whichever candidate can lead them to think they will be the LOW TAXES Mayor will emerge victorious...and that is how OG sees it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Bonfanti is only successful because Torigian set this city up for him. Bonfanti is only the Mayor because Torigian backed him. EVERYONE that worked under him were fearful and he had a ton of power throughout the city. Bonfanti is beatable and I think he knows that. I think that is why is new his time was up. Also, Bonfanti does not have the clought that Torigian did and his endoresement is more like a nail in the coffin for Sean's campaign. I have heard that from numerous people over the past couple of days from people that really did not know Sean that well. It will be the worst campaign move to force Bonfanti to do that. Also, everyony should take a look at the state website with regards to all the campaign donations. They are from groups of families and most of his large ones are either the usual suspects and alot of out of towners. He really does not have the support that he is attempting to portray.
