Stop the Insanity!!!!

I am all for individuals stepping up and wanting action in the city. I have a concern when one individual continues to make demands on everyone to act immediately instead of having health debate. Do you know who I am talking about? Well yes Obama does it too...But in this circumstance, I am speaking about the article in the Patch today where Sean is demanding that the City Council vote on city plans immediately. Can someone tell me when the last time an individual (Not an elected official) made a public demand on any part of the city government? Somehow the reporter/editor thinks he deserves and entire article to make his decree. It was not even an editorial comment....At some point someone needs to call Sean out on this childish attempt at attention and I am doing it.

Sean, how many times are you going to make attempts to give the appearance that you have this factor over the decisions of our city government. At this point in your life you have the same power as me, my neighbor and the woman down the street. Why do I say this? We all have a vote in Peabody. You sit here now and believe that you have some great vocal authority over the citizens and politicians of Peabody and it really angers me. As an equal individual in Peabody I am demanding that you stop this behavior and act like a gentleman and equal taxpayer of Peabody. The reality is that I should have more say since I pay more in taxes. But that is not me. If you own a home and/ or you are a voter then you have the same weight with the city government.

Sean, based on what I have seen from you and what others have told me about you, you are the same person as a child that you are today. You really worry me if you would actually win the authority of the Mayors office. It is my belief that you would wave the power very heavily and you would not listen to voters like you demanding actions. I get the impression that you would retort back and say I am the Mayor and I am the one that makes the decisions...It is a statement that I have heard for to long now and there is no way that I am going to listen to it again.

In all homestly, I had not made a decision on either candidate until today and as of right now, I am being very clear that I would support any candidate that is not Sean. That does not mean that I support Bettencourt. I am still attempting to figure out his plans for our great city but I will not vote for someone that continues to place demands on people like this. When you see red flags, you need to acknowledge them and correct the issue. That is what I am doing.

So everyone, go ahead give me your thoughts and if you think I am wrong to say this, so be it....

  1. Well said. I hate when Fitzy or Teddy Bear try to seem all mayoral and make these demands. I can't believe these two are our only choices for mayor.

  2. I have a question, why is Sean getting so much exposure through the patch,Snews, and Weekly paper?

  3. I am told that it is someone that he knows and looks up to that has the connections with only positive spin. Two thumbs up!

  4. OG says...hold on...I applaud Sean for letting his opinion be known...what is wrong with a prospective Mayoral candidate offering his opinion on a local issue that has gone on much long with political rigor mortis?....OG is clearly on the record as predicting that Teflon Ted will handily slide into the Mayor's seat but you are way off base calling Sean out on this issue...you are clearly expressing some PERSONAL ill will towards him instead of objectively managing this blog....and that's how OG sees it....

  5. What's insane is the reason people say they are voting for these candidates. Here are some of the reasons peple have told me they are voting for a particular candidate. These are all true and have been said by more than one person. In Gould's case, I heard it from at least six people at my daughter's soccer game.

Teddy Bear: He's a nice guy.
    Fitzy: I know his mother.
Gould: He gave me free ice cream.
Garabedian: He helped me find a car.

Is this all it takes to be "qualified" to run for office in Peabody? Be nice and give away free ice cream?

  6. OG says..what you are hearing is reality my friend...where's the beef? there is no beef or substance with many of these candidates! it is all the good old boy network or the shallow reasons to vote for people...there is no real focus on the issues or the real qualifications that should have our political leaders possess....this is why OG is weary of it all ! this is the norm here in Dark City...and every time is say this I am accused of being doom and gloom and the classic arm chair quarterback but this reality is and has been all around us forever here....hasn't it ?

  7. OG says...healthy debate? FOR HOW LONG HAVE WE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FIXING DOWNTOWN? do you have any desire at all to see some of these Dark City issues addressed in your lifetime??!!!! Let's get off the stick and do something before we are all gone and buried !! snap out of it Dark City...we need to move FORWARD, we need to do SOMETHING...enough out of the debating and delaying and chin rubbing...let's do something!

  8. Yes lets not have healthy debate....and sign our lives away just like we did with the new voc...We need to give our money away that does not have a ceiling bc we can't trust ourselves...Maybe it is time for all these long time city councilors and school committee members to go buh bye

  9. Alright, primary is over and just 45 days till election day. Let's get a post/poll going with everyone's predictions. I'll start - Ted is new mayor and Gould is new at-large. Council stays the same for rest of at large councilors and all ward seats remain intact for incumbents. Close but no cigar for Russell as school committee members all return. Damato and Aylward are Light Commission. What say you?

  10. Thanks for that assessment, Bill.

  11. I think Liacos is in trouble. Alyward came close last time and Croce is a much stronger candidate than Bill. I see the frigging guy everywhere and he's from Ward 6 where there is going to be a huge vote because of Bettencourt.

I think Russell takes out Charest too. The guy is a hard worker and I bet there is a huge turnout tomorrow night at his fundraiser.

Alyward could take second in the commissioner race, but Birmingham will be tough to beat since the Bonfanti machice is pushing hard for him.

  12. I just heard that by the end of next week, Bonfanti will publicly announce his endoursement of FitzGerald.

    ReplyDelete
  13. That was not a surprise just a matter of timing. If I were Fitzgerald I would not want that endorsement unless you want the city to be stale and support the elder voters only...BTW there have been lost of rumors that he has been working really hard behind the scenes for Sean. With that being said it really has not helped his cause...They are running a very disorganized campaign even with Bonfanti's campaign manager...I cant wait to hear all the promises that he is willing to make to get people to vote for him. If I were everyone, I would start jotting them down because you wont see any of them...

  16. Yup. This previous post is the dumbest post in the history of this lame ass blog. Sean, if you are going to do a decent job at parody at least try to be funny. Like a REALLY REALLY funny line would have been to say how after winning re-election, Ann Manning decides in two years to change her name to Chaz and run as a man.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't know. I thought it was pretty funny, except for the Alyward part. By the way, Pendent Publishing just bought the rights to the "History of Bettencourtland" It's gonna be a coffee table book. And the author will be signing copies at 6:30 a.m., at his sign holding on Lynnfield Street once it's published. :)

Come on people, lighten up. This is supposed to be fun! I think Anon 9:58 is hilarious.

  18. All of this is very interesting, but why wasn't the city council meeting televised last night?

I mean, I turned on the cable access channel last night but I musta goten the Salem channel by accident. There was this nasty, witchy looking hag banging a gavel and yelling at some little dude. Was this the city council meeting or the Munchkinland scene in the Wizard of Oz?

  20. Mr. PP. Why have you allowed this blog to turn into nothing but insults? A majority of comments here contradict your claim that personal attacks would not be tolerated. You should either clean up your act here of take this stupid thing down. What a joke. Knew this would happen.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am not at my computer at the moment and I have been trying my best to keep up with the comments that are negative or disparaging. With that being said, not everyone is going to like each others view points. I do see a couple that should be pulled and will do so later on today. Personally, I am under the impression that Peabody really does not want a blog because based on other blogs that were written, very few comments were made. There is a possibility that I may turn it off sooner if people cant act like adults... Peabody Politics

    ReplyDelete
  22. I say turn it off. It's not useful. In fact it is embarrassing. If people want to be up front and not act like cowards, they will comment on the Patch and use their real names. The Patch is a professional service that can monitor and clean up or delete any foolishness. Sounds like you PP do not have the time to do that. Shut it down and tell people to comment on the Patch instead.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I want to make a prediction: Fitzgerald will win. So will Alyward.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well you say people are cowards. Then why dont you tell us who you are since you are so vocal. I have the feeling that you are one of the people that may be getting commented on. Is that the case?

    ReplyDelete
  25. There are like 25 comments on this string and they were likely made by no more than 3 of the people. I think one of them is a certain light commish candidate, the second one is the Og loser and the third one is someone who likes to bust balls on Manning, Bettencourt, Croce and Donovan. but this is ALL. This is why you SHOULD take it down. It is of no value when it comes to helping people decide who to vote for. It is just a place to rip people for no reason other than being mean.

How is it valuable for voters to see someone call Bettencourt the Teddy Bear? Why is it OK to make fun of Manning-Martin's appearance, and why in the world would someone rip challengers who are putting themselves on the line by running for office?

Tom Gould gives alot of ice cream away to charity so bloggers here rip his ass. Ya, that makes a real lot of sense.

Kill this stupid insulting blog now!

    ReplyDelete
  26. If you don't like this "stupid insulting blog" then there are plenty of other places for you to go in cyberspace. Just like if you don't like Fox news or MSNBC, then change the channel.

I guess I'm guest #4 on the above list....you can refer to me as the Silent Majority. We like to be able to voice our thoughts with other politically interested folks about local happenings. I'm sorry if its not always up to your highfalutin standards, but this is a public forum after all.

So if you find this offensive or stupid, then move-on. But don't kill the conversation for the rest of us.

And PP, your doing great. Don't let these downers get to you or adjust your thinking. Your doing a really good public service and I for one thank you. Open forums like these are the life-blood of a prosperous democracy and with an election only ~45 days away, immensely important and fun to be part of. So good job and keep it up!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Public service? Yeah, it might be a public service if people actually posted and made comments that weren't ONLY hatchet jobs. This so called forum could be great. But what it is instead is a place for poo poo jokes and baseless insults. It's a joke. Hey ... I think Anne Manning is a freaking brutal city councilor and not a very nice person, but even I wince at the off-color remarks you made about her here. To be honest I could care less if this blog stays or goes. All I'm saying it isn't providing a great public service as you say. And by the way, your little parody about predictions is a piece of shit attack on people like Bill A who -- unlike you -- had the balls to put their name out on a ballot.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Okay people settle down. Lets all really try hard and get along. Lets be reasonable with the color comments of individuals. I would really like them to stop. I personally hate Manning but that is as far as I will go unless I make an true observation of her like her complaining at meetings. Other than that lets use this for what it was meant to be and that is to have healthy debate!

  29. Does anyone else get irritated when they see two lawn signs on the opposite sides of one lawn. For some reason that bugs me. Do they think we are stupid? what u think?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Huh? What the hell R U talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  31. This blog is a fraud. How can you remove a posting that parodies bettencourt and other elected officials and some challengers, yet you rip fitzgerald in the post these replies are attached to?

You say "stop the insanity" when it comes to sean but the second a post questions bettencourt's leadership, in a funny way, it gets removed. There was nothing in that post that was libelous, slanderous or defaming. But see, this blog isn't about talking politics, it's about pushing an agenda.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm not a Sean suppoter, but I agree 100% with the last poster. This blog is a now officially a joke. Dude, what are you thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anon 7:17 ... how do you get through the day without killing yourself? Two signs on the same lawn? That really irritates you?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I did not just remove it because of Bettencourt. There were other comments about other individuals that may not be libelous but may seem to be somewhat offensive, I spoke fact when I wrote this article and what was removed was fantasy and hardly comedy. So stop getting your undies in a bunch!!!

If you don't like it start your own blog...That is what I did. And a joke??? With over 11,600 hits in a month, I don't find that to be a joke!! So don't let the door hit you on the way out!

    ReplyDelete
  35. 8:19, I'm undecided who I'll vote for and I do agree with you fully. If you have the deleted from this site messages you or other sent you can do the following. Resend them to the site and now they can be no question you sent them. After I would confront the sites care taker[s] that you now want them published on the site. If they don't then you more than have a case for the courts. If not, then apologize or just swallow the story and say nothing. I do agree its all about pushing an agenda. The question is ,is it a ruse to hurt a reputation and/or other violations of the law? On the other hand you may be right. My answer to the question is ... It is political w/o a doubt with it being right on top of the score sheet.

  36. Everyone's a lawyer. Political satire is part of protected speech. It may be in bad taste sometimes but were all adults here, so if you don't like it leave.

  37. I am happy you removed the comments making fun of her looks, but it is fair game to say AMM is not a good councilor or nice person. I grew up with her and her sister and they have always been in my opinion mean and nasty.

  38. I do not like Mannings either, but at least they are not too faced like Mcgeney and his nutty wife

  39. Is Dave running again for school committee this year? I have not seen him out campaigning. The only one I have really seen is Russell. He seems pretty qualified. I might bullet him.

  40. PP. You keep referring to 11,000 hits and you clearly don't know what that means. I am a web development professonal so I will try to explain to you why you don't have as many visitors as you think. According to your counter, you have just under 11,000 page views. That doesn't mean almost 12K different people have viewed this blog. Not even close.

Everytime I click on something, it registers a page view, meaning one person could be responsible for dozens of page views each time they visit. If I come back today at 6 and click on four things, it registers four page views. If I come back at 8 and click five more times, I am responsible for 9 of those page views all by myself.

I would bet that you have had maybe 100 differnt people visit - tops - in the last month. Your counter is bogus.
