$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It has always been said that every election that is one has a commonality; the candidate has and spends more money than the other. Does Fitzy stand a chance against Bettencourt? Also, Bettencourt has another big party this weekend.

  1. Salem News says Anne Manning and her sister donated almost a grand to Sean Fitzgerald.
She would have been better off to go to Suffolk Downs and play it on a longshot.

  2. I can't stand her or him so they would make a great marriage to wreck this city if both were to win. So basically they have given about 2% of his campaign monies. I like that it appears there is a lot more support wide spread in the city. These are people that have different view points in general but the one commonality is that they think Bettencourt can do a good job. Even the interim Superintendent has donated money to Bettencourt. I have heard Fitzgerald trying to over compliment him on a few occasions in public meetings. I hope none of them get elected and this town starts to move forward. I could do without Rico, Ann and some of the others....

  3. I'd love to know what Bettencourt plans on doing for this city. Seems more like a popularity contest to me. Where's his stance on anything other than loading up the city with signs? Is he going to rent those spaces his signs are installed at to advertisers if he wins to lower our taxes??

    That'd be progress!

  5. I do not totally disagree with Anon 6:48, but here is the problem Sean has. His style is too in your face. That really turns a lot of people off. Whether you agree with me or not facts is facts: this IS a popularity contest for the most part. I bet the debates will be jammed with people, but I also bet they will be jammed with people who either work for one of the campaigns, or are political insiders who are already aligned with a candidate. There will be very few undecided voters in those audiences.

I predict that Sean will look better in the debates, but it won't matter because MOST people will not see a single debate.

The majority of voters will make their decision based on who they like best and when it comes to meeting people one on one and going door to door, again facts is facts: people just end up liking Ted better than they do Sean on a personal level. Issues, smishues. All Ted has to do is smile at the door and say he will keep taxes low and he is in like Flynn.

This doesn't make Sean a bad guy or anything. It's just a personality/style thing. Personally, I think Sean could be a very strong candidate if he could ever work on his act a little more and be a little more warm and caring instead of in your face all of the time. It's too late now, though. I really feel it is all over and Ted B will be our mayor come January.

So have 50 debates. It won't matter.

  6. Beware of both of these candidates, having grandiose ideas without communicating the methods on how we complete these goals/ideas is exactly the problem we're having with Obama. Lots of talk about great goals, no substance as to how we get there with BOTH candidates.

  7. OG says...did someone once say "Where's the Beef?"....listen up Dark City...your comments in this post touch on some good points and clearly illustrate why OG is now disenfranchised with Peabody politics as usual...there is no beef...there is no real focus on the issues with clear plans and ideals...it is one damn popularity contest....OG has seen and heard enough...this is why I am so damn negative about the whole thing...so my advice to most of you is this...find something else to do because I sure as hell have.....and that's how OG sees it..

  8. Og,
    Blah, blah, blah blah....
Why don't you run and give us your ideas to save the "dark city". You won't and you have no ideas, just whine, whine whine.

  9. Bettencourt did not see the same support this past weekend as he did with his kickoff...Should he start getting a little nervous?
